Phone Consultations on Unlimited Matters
As a member, you can consult with your Provider Law Firm toll free by phone on any personal or business-related matter during regular business hours. Additionally, if the Provider Lawyer feels that the legal matter cannot be adequately addressed during the telephone consultation, the Provider Lawyer will provide up to one hour of legal research concerning the matter at no additional cost.
Access to a Lawyer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week*
You and your covered family members get round-the-clock access to your Provider Law Firm if you are detained or arrested, if you are seriously injured in a car crash, if the province tries to take your children or if you’re served with a warrant.
Phone Calls and Letters*
If the Provider Lawyer determines that either a phone call or letter on the member’s behalf will be of further assistance, then the lawyer will:
(1) Write letter or make one phone call on your behalf on any subject matter (one letter or call per subject matter per membership year).
(2) Business matters are also covered under your membership! You will receive one phone call or one letter for up two non-related business matters per membership year.
Will Preparation*
With your membership you no longer have to worry about the cost or hassle of preparing and updating your Will. Your Provider Lawyer will prepare a standard Will for you and will provide yearly reviews and updates at no additional cost.
Powers of Attorney Preparation*
In connection with the Will preparation benefit, your Provider Law Firm will prepare a Power of Attorney for Personal Care and a Continuing Power of Attorney for Property for you so that your care and financial needs may be looked after while you are alive.
Other covered family members (spouse or domestic partner) can have the will and powers of attorney prepared for $30 per person (no cost if done within 60 days with spouse).
Contract and Document Review
You can have an unlimited number of personal legal documents up to ten (10) pages each reviewed by your Provider Lawyer. You can also have one business legal document of ten (10) pages or less reviewed each membership year. Any such documents must name you as a contracting party. Your Provider Law Firm will analyze the documents and, when possible, suggest changes for your benefit before you sign.
Warranty Assistance
Your Provider Law Firm will make a phone call or write a letter on your behalf to help enforce a written or implied warranty related to the lease or purchase of goods or services or other consumer product.
Review of Lease Agreements
A properly worded and executed lease is your best protection in landlord/tenant disputes. Let your Provider Law Firm review the lease on your primary residence before you sign.
Help with Contacting Government Agencies
Your Pre-Paid Legal Provider Law Firm will provide assistance in identifying and contacting the right government agency.
Debt Collection Assistance
Your Provider Law Firm will make a phone call or write a letter on behalf of the member to help you recover any outstanding debt.
Tenant (and Landlord) Legal Advice
If you are a tenant, you will receive legal advice for the following issues:
- Lease of property for personal use
- Problems arising with landlord’s failure to provide the proper and necessary services to the tenant
If you are a landlord, your Provider law firm will assist you with issues arising with tenants.
Small Claims Court Advice
If you need to file a claim or are sued in small claims court, your Provider Law Firm will discuss your case with you by phone and will provide advice in preparing your case.
Consumer Protection Assistance
Your Provider Law Firm will write a letter or make a phone call on your behalf to a third party when you need to enforce your rights relating to the lease or purchase of goods or services or other consumer protections issues.
Social Assistance Legal Advice
As a member, your Provider Law Firm will advise you on matters involving social assistance.
Estate Settlement Legal Advice
Your Provider Law Firm will provide advice regarding the settlement of an estate in which you have a direct interest.
Other Legal Services*
You will receive a 25% discount off your Provider Lawyer’s standard hourly rate should you need legal services not otherwise covered by this plan. You will receive a 33.3% discount off your Provider Law Firm’s standard hourly rate for representation should you need legal services that must be performed outside of a lawyer’s office.
In addition, when you need legal services for matters arising within the continental United States, you will receive a 25% discount from the standard hourly rate of the law firm or lawyer designated by the Provider Lawyer to provide services.
Hourly rates for Provider Law Firms and court appearances may vary. Please note that a retainer may be required for services to be rendered under this benefit. At least five business days are required for preparation in court representation. Telephone advice is available immediately.
*Phone Calls and Letters
A letter or phone call per subject matter is available if advisable at your Provider Law Firm’s sole discretion. Additional phone calls and letters for the same subject will be provided at a 25% discount off your Provider Law Firm’s standard hourly rate.
*Will and Powers of Attorney
Covered family members may have their Wills and Powers of Attorney prepared and executed at the offices of the Provider Law Firm for $30 per person. If the Wills and Powers of Attorney are executed at the offices of another law firm, arranged by the Provider Law Firm, the rate for the Named Member is $50. If executed by the covered family member’s at the same time as the Named Member’s Will and Powers of Attorney, the rate is $50 per person; if done at a different time, the rate is $75 per person. Yearly reviews and updates follow the same fee schedule as initial Wills and Powers of Attorney. Trust preparation is available at a 25% discount off your Provider Law Firm’s standard hourly rate.
*Access to a lawyer for arrest or detainment
Does not cover cases involving allegations of alcohol use, stalking or domestic violence.
